Hey my name is Dory!

It's official. I have short term memory loss, or maybe long term, maybe both, possibly because I've double-triple booked myself. Today I had three classes, training, weights, a concert, and a meeting (plus another meeting I missed). I need to remember to utilize my planner. Sometimes I forget what happened last night, or even tonight. Lately, I have to work really hard to place sequence of events. Sometimes I can't tell the difference between last week and last semester, which was about 5 months ago. I won't lie, it's a strange feeling and sometimes a little scary, but I figure once life settles down my memory will come back. I just keep on trusting God that everything will work out and I'm going with the flow, ha.

In terms of what I've done the past couple days? I might try to write it down just to remember. Sunday I slept in, went to the Festival of India in Charlotte, which was actually really cool. Then, I hung out with Andrew's suite and wrote a paper that was due Monday morning. Lots of drama goes down in that suite, by the way. Then, RAs came in and I realized it was after curfew, so my butt got sent home. Yesterday, I had class, went to the office, then practice, and core, ate dinner, and went to Gillian's to surprise her for her birthday. Me and the teammates pretended to strip for her, and her reaction was priceless! I ended up hanging out with Andrew again, this time his friend Cody came too, and we wandered aimlessly until we decided to go to Cook Out where I got some delicious food then went to bed. I've been lying in bed for three hours and can't sleep (probably because we made another Cook Out run after euchre - I've been starving for days) and I drank lots of pop today, so my body is so jacked up on caffeine. I didn't have a great workout either, Coach sent me home because my legs were dead. I'm just excited to have an off day tomorrow and I can just run to the gym and workout there. But I'm rambling right now. Hopefully I'll remember everything I'm supposed to do tomorrow, and I'll be able to wake up since I'm so tired already.

That's another thing, I haven't been sleeping well lately. I've been tossing and turning and having a ton of nightmares. Geez, I sound like a nut case! Well, this is what happens when you go to college I guess! haha peace out

My Latest Achievement

So I forgot to write yesterday, but mainly because I had an early bedtime. Early mornings means early bedtimes, but Brianna and I stayed up late enough to watch Super 8, which was actually a decent film. Yesterday, I played FIFA for the second time in 5 months, and I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed that game, even when I'm losing, which I always do.

REGARDLESS, today, right this second I'm on the bus to USC-Aiken for the men's soccer game. I woke up at 6:30am so I could go to my first official meet (yay!) which was at Wingate, an hour away. It was a small meet this morning, with only DII teams, and the course was not what I expected. It wasn't bad at all though. Actually, my first "meet" last week, which wasn't counted since I did a workout on my own, I finished in 28:02. With heat adjustments it was somewhere around 27:17, and my first mile was 8:47. Today, I blew it out of the water. My official time before adjustments was 26:55 and my first mile time (PR!!) was 7:38 when I was supposed to be around 8:10 :) Now, I'm fairly certain that is boring information and looks pathetically slow for most people, but I truly enjoyed myself, once I was done running! ha.

Anyway, so here I am, just took at tooon of ibuprofen, and I'll probably watch a movie on my laptop. This bus ride shouldn't be too long, only about 2 more hours. I am PRAYING the boys win today, I couldn't handle if I have to drive all the way back with them being frustrated with their loss. OH and I was on a massive runner's high when I got on the bus. I think I scared almost everyone on the bus because my energy was off the wall. I'm not too concerned though, they already know I'm a weirdo.

A Day in the Life

"Gabry lives such a glamorous life!" you might say. "I wonder, what does she do with her time?" That's a good question folks. Honestly, I live the very average life of a college student. I'll walk you through a day.

9:00am - first alarm goes off, snoozed
9:09am - second alarm, snoozed
9:18am - third alarm, snoozed. At least I'm sitting up now.
9:27am - fourth alarm, I have class in three minutes. Throw on clothes, grab my books, take off for class. Still manage to beat the teacher.
10:20am - get out of class early, go to Holy Grounds and pig out. YOLO.
10:50am - get a ride to Sacred Heart campus for my 11am class
12:15pm - Valencia asks for help with his paper. I end up in the library with Brianna proofreading that mess.
1:30pm - finally get lunch and go back to my room for a nap. I'm supposed to be in class. YOLO.
4:55pm - Brianna wakes me up frantically, "don't we have practice right now?!" we run out the door, as we're walking we remember it's only 5 and we don't have practice until 6. We go back to sleep.
6:00pm - practice. I'm crying like a baby because I have no pain tolerance. Figure it out Gabs.
7:00pm - weights.
7:27pm - I get to the caf right before it closes.
7:55pm - I get to the cotton candy line right as it closes.
8:00pm - I go with Andrew to the library to forget about my depression. I really wanted cotton candy.
8:30pm - I go to Shane's to play FIFA12. I only lose 3-2, even if he did get a red card in the first half. Rematch to follow tomorrow.
9:00pm - Shower and hang out with the suite and all the random people who show up.
12:30am - Finally open up MicrosoftWord. I have a paper due in the morning. YOLO.

So there is my obnoxious yet realistic and totally boring day in the life of yours truly. Tune in tomorrow for some more exciting adventures and "Facing Shane Part II: Revenge of the NARP"

Two Truths and a Lie

The game two truths and a lie always bothered me because I never created a lie realistic enough to believe, or I made the rookie mistake of telling three truths and no lies. My bestie blows my mind describing the struggles of the latest lies from professional liars. I think I figured out the strategy to a perfect lie. You weave the lie into the truth until you can't tell where the truth leaves off and the lie begins. Eventually the professionals will lie so well to themselves they believe it and can perfectly recreate the same lie over and over again.

I fall into the trap of lies often. Some people say it's because I expect too much. Maybe I'm too trusting. Possibly I just don't know how to make good decisions. Any way you look at it, lies stink. I think it's all too easy to buy into someone else's negative life.

How do you escape the lies? Well, I haven't figured that out yet, but my new strategy is a motto/mantra I keep telling myself: "Keep calm and smile on." It won't solve all my problems, but this saying whispers, "trust God to take care of the rest." God has a funny way of doing that, always making things work out in the end. And that isn't a lie.

Freezing Cold

Honestly, every time I post it will just be literally the thoughts running through my mind at the moment. Like, right now, I'm freezing cold, absolutely shivering. The girls xc team has amazing luck. It rains on us. Every. Single. Practice. Without fail. The guys practice right before or after us depending on the day, so we're not even practicing at the same time every day, and the guys never get wet a drop. Practice ended at 7 but then I got back to my room after dinner and the shower was taken with a line up. So I went to Walmart and tried to find gluten-free food (not very successfully) and new nail polish, which I'm actually wearing now :) But now I'm back and I'm still waiting for the shower. I was supposed to hang out with Andrew but I don't know how I feel about actually staying awake after my shower. Since I have nothing due tomorrow, I'm doing the mature thing and saving all the homework due on Thursday for tomorrow. I've also just been sitting here eating half a bag of cheetos, rice crispy treats, banana and peanut butter, and reeses pieces to name a few of the things I bought at Walmart. It's nothing very filling.

Speaking of food! The caf food is disgusting and terrible. The soup they gave me today they reheated, and it was hot but still congealed. I tried eating corn tortillas but it was so dry it fell apart. Right now I'm mainly living off of chocolate milk and popcorn, a very healthy and well-rounded diet for a runner. I really don't want to lose any more weight but I'm headed in that direction right now. They have some new frozen gluten-free waffles though, and I might try those tomorrow morning. Plus I read somewhere that people who eat breakfast are smarter. Interesting...

Anyway, right now I'm trying to prepare for homecoming for my internship, even though it's a month away. My job is to get 100 alumni to come back and watch the game, which is tricky because we only have the contact info for about 175, so over 60% a very good number, and, if you ask me, a bit ambitious. But I'm going to try my best, and tomorrow through the rest of the week, I have to call all the alumni we don't have email addresses for and the ones we do have but who won't answer the emails. Homecoming is going to be a huge deal. I don't like calling even people I know, which means tomorrow will be very good for me. Any profession I go into will require stuff like this. Yeehaw.

Once I make it through Mondays and Tuesdays, I know I can make it through the rest of the week, unless it's a week like last week. I feel very good about this week, although those could just be the remaining endorphins running through me. I love me my runner's high. It's crazy how I don't hate running anymore. Anyway, I'm gonna go shower. And text Andrew back. And maybe watch a movie. Who knows. At least I'm going to try to warm up!

For Real?!!

So here I am, actually blogging. I've been thinking about doing this for a long while, thus the unused blog I made like 3.5 bagazillion years ago and never posted in. I figure this is a good way to keep my homies updated, and maybe practice my writing skills a little bit. I see this as either getting really complex and fancy and addictive or I'll never post again after this one. Then there's always that thought in the back of my mind that if I die by some dramatic, traumatic event, people will want to read my thoughts and feel connected to me. Sadly, I'll be gone and crying is no use people! Well we'll see.

Right now I'm supposed to be writing a paper for Sport Facilities, and even though it's super easy, I've had people in and out of my room all night. You could say, OMG Gabs, you must be so popular!! But really it's just my roomie is so cool she decided to have a study sesh in here and things are always crazy around here. Including someone *ehem* Brianna getting pantsed in front of everybody without wearing underwear. Cute.

Tomorrow I have a ton going on and I'm sleepy just thinking about the nap I can't get. Or maybe I'm tired because it's 12:30am and I still have homework to do.

Here's a random video I saw on facebook: Random Video. I haven't even watched it yet so I have no idea if it's any good. Don't hate me if it's terrible.

I like listening to music, and I've fallen IN LOVE with country even more here, but it makes me want to sing all these songs to a man, so I just sing them to Brianna instead. ALSO, I'm obsessed with the song Demons by Imagine Dragons. Hunter Hayes is a really beautiful man though. Dang the conflicts I must face on a daily basis.

My room is really muggy so we tried turning on the a/c and bringing in a fan, but it's so humid that our illegal christmas lights are falling off the walls. No matter how much Spiderman, moustache, leopard print, and neon duck tape we put on the walls. Oh well.

Anyshway, I'm gonna go write my paper. And study for a quiz. Or I'll just go to sleep, because sleeping is always a viable option. Keep it classy, internet world.
